Running a business with the environment in mind

Here at Button and Squirt I don’t only want to inspire you to do your bit for the environment and the future of our planet, I want to lead by example with everything I do here.

So gradually I have made lots of little (and a few big) changes that will all add together to make this a much more eco friendly business. Something I believe is really important for every small business to think about.

So far I have changed my packaging, the poly post bags have gone and instead everything is sent out in card boxes and paper envelopes, wrapped in tissue paper or paper bags. I’ve made sure my greetings cards, notebooks and posters as well as business cards and swing tags are all printed on recycled paper and card.

I have also taken the naked card pledge and all my greetings cards and notebooks are sent out naked with no cello wrapping when you order online, and at events or where we are stocked in shops they are wrapped in bio degradable corn starch bags.

I’ve also selected recycled brown paper bags for when I am selling at events, these can be reused and at the end of their life easily recycled (Just remove the rope handle first)

I have removed all vinyl printed products from my range due to the plastic waste created by its use and I am now phasing out my animal tshirts as they are printed on partly polyester fabric which is made from plastic and releases micro plastics when washed which ultimately end up in the ocean. So my clothing range will have a complete overhaul over the coming months to make it more ethical and sustainable.

Another change we have made was to switch to a 100% renewable energy supplier.

i am committed to constantly evaluating what I do and ensuring I am doing everything within my power to make this business more eco friendly, ethical and sustainable. It’s a continuous journey and one that I’m really looking forward to taking.

IF you run your own business and want to talk about the changes I’ve made or need help with suppliers then please get in touch, I’m always happy to help.
